AFDye™ 405 Azide (Alexa Fluor 405 Azide) is a water-soluble, pH-insensitive from pH 4 to pH 10 bright, blue-fluorescent probe with excitation ideally suited for the 407 nm spectral line of the krypton laser or the 408 nm violet laser diode. AFDye 405 dyes are often used in multicolor applications, including flow cytometry and super-resolution microscopy using STORM.

AFDye™ 405 Azide can be reacted with terminal alkynes via a copper-catalyzed click reaction (CuAAC). It also reacts with strained cyclooctyne via a copper-free “click chemistry” reaction to form a stable triazole and does not require Cu-catalyst or elevated temperatures.

AFDye™ 405 dye is structurally identical to Invitrogen’s Alexa Fluor® 405
